About Me
Background: Tanner Smith is a Clinical Research Coordinator in the Department of Anesthesiology at the University of Utah. He received an Honors bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of Utah and holds a Clinical Medical Assistant certification. Before joining the anesthesia research team, Tanner gained four years of clinical experience as a physical therapy technician and medical assistant, and conducted undergraduate research focused on improving enrichment of post–CRISPR-Cas9 edited cells.
Responsibilities: Tanner supports several departmental clinical research studies, with a primary focus on the TMS for PDPN study. He assists with participant recruitment, scheduling, and treatment coordination, ensuring study protocols are followed and data are accurately collected.
