  • The Roh-Johnson lab would like to congratulate, IM-Prep Trainee Taylor Stevens, on her acceptance into graduate school at WSU!
  • Congrats and a fond farewell from the Iwasa Lab to Postdoc Margot Riggi, who will be leaving at the end of June to start a new faculty position at the Max Planck Institute of Biochemistry in Martinsried, Germany!
  • The Ducker Lab wishes, lab technician Hayden Low, great luck as he departs for Medical School at Kaiser Permanente School of Medicine in Pasadena, CA.
  • Yongxiang Zhao, a postdoc in the Cao lab, recently started his own lab. We wish him success in his independent research!

 

 

 

 

2023

Transitions

  • Helen Donelick of the Bass and Shen labs successfully defended her thesis on December 16th and is now Dr. Donelick. We wish her success in starting her new job at ThermoFisher in March.
  • Congratulations to Shuxin Wang, who has accepted a position and will start in April at Thermo Fisher as a Cryo-EM Applications Scientist
  • Joey Casalini of the Roh-Johnson lab successfully defended his thesis on May 2nd and has started a position at Paterna Biosciences in SLC.
  • Qian Xue of the Roh-Johnson lab successfully defended her thesis on March 1st and started her postdoc at Stanford University.
  • Tianyao Xiao Hughes lab successfully defended her thesis on February 22nd and accepted a postdoc position with Elcin Unal at UC Berkely.
  • The Ducker lab would like to congratulate Claire Stanley, a lab technician on her acceptance in to Medical School! Claire has been a lab member for nearly three years and we will miss her but wish her the best of luck.
  • Kristina Seiler of the Rutter lab received a postdoctoral fellowship from the Swiss National Science Foundation
  • Luis Cedeno-Rosario of the Rutter lab received a postdoctoral fellowship from the Burroughs-Wellcome Foundation.
  • The Ducker lab would like to congratulate, undergraduate researcher Austin Bender, on his acceptance into Pharmacy School.
  • Megan Okada of the Sigala lab has started a Master's in Public Health Program here at the U.
  • Sarah Hansen, a postdoc in the Bass lab, has accepted an Assistant Professor position at the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire, in the Chemistry and Biochemistry Department. 

 

 

 

 

2022

Transitions

Judah Evangelista (Kay Lab) , Zachary Cruz (Kay Lab), and Rolande Meudom (Kay Lab / Chou Lab) graduated fall semester 2022.

Helen Donelick, a graduate student in the Bass and Shen labs, has accepted a job as Senior Scientist, Field Applications, with Thermo Fisher Scientific. Helen will be in the Life Science Group within the Materials and Structural Analysis Division of the Analytical Instruments.

TK Coody, a graduate student in the Hughes Lab, was accepted into the highly competitive University of Utah’s Clinical Biochemical Genetics Fellowship Program, and will move on to start that position in July 2022.

Jake Winter completed the PhD portion of his MD/PhD summer semester.

Osiris Martinez-Guzman, a postdoc in the Hughes lab, is moving on to start her career in industry and has accepted a position at Siemens Healthineers in Delaware.

Congratulations to Dr. Seyi Falekun for successfully defending his PhD thesis. Dr. Falekun will be moving on to ARUP to start a clinical chemistry fellowship later this spring.

The Iwasa lab is excited for Margot Riggi, who will be returning to Switzerland to join the Dubochet CryoEM Imaging Center at EPFL as an outreach coordinator starting in March.

Congratulations to Jaime Sepulveda who was accepted at his top-choice medical school at the University of Miami and anticipates starting there this summer.

Agnieszka Lewandowska, a Research Associate in the Shaw and Hughes labs, has accepted a new position in Regulatory Affairs at Biofire Diagnostics. Congrats Agnieszka!

Peng Wei secured a position at Vertex Pharmaceuticals.

Bri Stavaas-Jamack of the Miller Lab took a visiting teaching position at Eastern Oregon University.

Sam Tilley was accepted into the MD/PhD Program at Baylor.

Sage Geher was accepted to Medical School at the University of Utah and will start here next year.

Surbhi Verma accepted a position with Bristol Myers Squibb.

Congratulations to Viplendra Shakya, who will be starting a new position at UCB Boston R&D in June. 

Peter Hackett, a technician in the Sundquist lab, was accepted into medical school at the University of Utah, and he will be starting this coming August.

Yeyun Ouyang recently defended her thesis and will be taking a job at Altos labs in November.

Jordan Berg took a job at Altos Labs.

Peng Wei published a paper in Science Advances, graduated, and took a job at Vertex in Boston.
