Samuel M. Brown, MD

Samuel Brown, M.D., M.S., is an attending physician in the Shock Trauma ICU at Intermountain Medical Center and assistant professor of pulmonary and critical care at the University of Utah School of Medicine. Board-certified in pulmonary and critical care medicine and a testamur of the National Board of Echocardiography. His clinical interests include life-threatening infection (“sepsis”), acute lung injury, and the function of the heart and blood vessels during life-threatening illness.

M. Sean Esplin, MD
Title: Associate Medical Director
M. Sean Esplin, MD is a Maternal-Fetal Medicine physician based at Intermountain Medical Center. He is the Chair of the Women and Newborn Research Group at Intermountain and collaborates regularly with the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Utah as part of the Maternal-Fetal Medicine Units network and with the Division of Neonatology and the Neonatal Research Network. Dr. Esplin also serves as the Chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Intermountain Medical Center. His main research interests include the prevention of preterm birth and fetal heart rate monitoring.

Scott C. Woller, MD
Title: Associate Medical Director
Dr. Woller’s academic interest is in the arena of thromboembolism and anticoagulation management. With a particular interest in the prevention of venous thromboembolic disease, Dr. Woller is an investigator on multiple ongoing and recently completed clinical trials including two NIH-funded studies (COAG, GIFT) and served as site PI for one (GIFT). Dr. Woller is presently serving as Co-Chair for the American College of Chest Physicians (ACCP) Clinical Practice Guideline that addresses antithrombotic therapy for venous thromboembolic disease, and as was a panelist for the Vascular Access Appropriateness Panel housed at the University of Michigan. Dr. Woller is an invited panelist for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Risk Assessment Model for the Prevention of Venous Thromboembolic Disease in Medical Patients program.
