The Department of Biomedical Informatics Industry Advisory Board (IAB) at the University of Utah is excited to announce that we are going virtual for the IABtalks event on Thursday, October 29, 2020.

This continues to be a great event, with students attending from across the state and many students with biomedical informatics and computer science backgrounds. This event also draws many professionals in industry and government who look forward to networking with others in the biomedical informatics field.

picture---maia-hightower.jpgOctober’s keynote speaker is Maia Hightower, MD, MPH, MBA. She is the Chief Medical Information Officer for the University of Utah Health. She joined the UUH team in March of 2019. Her topic for the evening is “Capacity Building for Biomedical Informatics & Data Science in the New Decade.”

The IABtalks event will be held virtually for the first time which allows people to join this meeting who otherwise wouldn’t be able to attend in person! We are kicking off the evening with a panel discussion highlighting the student experience from several of Utah’s biomedical informatics programs. After Dr. Hightower’s keynote address, attendees can join different virtual exhibit booths hosted by our IAB companies/organizations where attendees can learn more about our valued partners. Visit one “booth” or all of them.
