Kathy Sward, Ph.D.

Abstract

This presentation will describe research Dr Sward has conducted with BMI faculty, at the intersection between clinical research informatics and clinical decision support/knowledge management. The primary focus will be on projects in which the clinical context is adult or pediatric intensive care.


Bio

Kathy is an associate professor at the College of Nursing and adjunct associate professor in the department of Biomedical Informatics. Her PhD (2007) and MS (1998) degrees were both in informatics at the U of Utah. She has been working in informatics & decision support since the early 1990's, beginning with work on the Iliad system and it's consumer health derivative, HouseCall. She is currently funded by NICHD for 2 projects: as co-investigator for the Collaborative Pediatric Critical Care Research Network Data Coordinating Center (Mike Dean, PI), and as PI for an R21 examining a pediatric ventilator CDS protocol.
