Courtney Gauchel, who earned her MS in Biomedical Informatics from the University of Utah in May 2025, is featured in the APHL–CDC Career Pathways Public Health Laboratory Fellowship “Meet the Fellow” spotlight. With an unconventional journey from nursing and communications to informatics, Courtney was drawn to a novel project exploring how a chatbot could help parents understand positive newborn screening results, specifically for sickle cell trait.
