On Saturday morning (November 7, 2026), members of the Biomedical Informatics (BMI) community gathered for a hands-on service project to support UKids Guardsman Way, one of the University of Utah’s childcare centers. From 7:30–11:30 AM, a team of 21 volunteers (students and DBMI colleagues) worked together to build a new outdoor play area, repaint the exterior railing, and complete deep cleaning inside the center to prepare the space for spring.
This effort reflects DBMI’s ongoing commitment to service, community partnership, and supporting families across campus. The work done will help create a welcoming, safe, and engaging environment for the children and staff who use the center every day.
“It was inspiring to see our students come together to make a meaningful impact,” noted DBMI organizers. “Service strengthens our community, our values, and our connection to the university we are part of.”
