Staff Awards

Faculty, administrators, and fellow staff members are invited to participate in the DFPM 2022 Staff Awards nomination process. Staff Awards recognize excellent work being done by department staff and highlight the individuals who go above and beyond in fulfilling DFPM’s mission and goals. There are four categories for Staff Awards which cover important aspects of staff responsibility and impact.

Winners of the staff awards will be announced in the Faculty Retreat in February. Questions and clarifications about the DFPM 2022 Staff Awards and nomination process can be sent to Danny Nelson.

Deadline for Nominations is Wednesday, February 2, 2022.


  • Faculty, staff, and administrators are all eligible to nominate for the awards.
  • Individuals may nominate multiple individuals and in multiple categories.
  • Individuals may not nominate themselves.
  • All nominations are welcome, but special consideration will be given to those who have not previously won an award.


General Categories

Distinguished Service Award   |  NOMINATE

The Distinguished Service Award recognizes a staff member who resolves issues with autonomy and excellence. The recipient of this award uses their knowledge of department procedures and mission to develop useful resources and help bridge gaps in department operations. This employee's dedication to the department has been demonstrated over time, and their service has helped shape the department.

Rising Star Award   |   NOMINATE

The Rising Star Award is presented to a staff member who has been at the department fewer than 2 years and has shown initiative, involvement in one or more missions of the department, and a proactive attitude. The Rising Star Award recepient brings energy and an innovative perspective while maintaining focus on department and division goals.

Community Champion Award   |   NOMINATE

The Community Champion Award is given to a staff member who works to engage and include department members as members of a work community. Recipients of the award are proactive in creating safe, productive spaces for the DFPM community as colleagues working together as a team. They focus on breaking down barriers and building an inclusive environment for others in the department.

Mentor Award   |   NOMINATE

The Mentor Award recognizes a department staff member who spends time advising and training other staff members and faculty on multiple facets of the department. Mentor Award recipients demonstrate generosity with their time, commitment to others' professional development, and a willingness to help those around them build new skillsets.
