Division of Public Health's Utah Campus

In 1978, the Department of Family and Preventive Medicine’s Public Health program became one of the first community health/preventive medicine programs to be accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH), the nationally recognized accrediting body for public health programs. Since 1978 the Department of Family and Preventive Medicine Public Health Program has successfully undergone six accreditation reviews.

The Division of Public Health’s Utah Campus is located in Salt Lake City on the foothills of the Wasatch Mountains. Public Health students enjoy national parks, outdoor recreation, and city living all within a short proximity of campus. The University of Utah is Utah’s flagship institution and has been educating the community since 1850. Recently, The University of Utah was admitted to the Association of American Universities, which is comprised of leading research universities across America.

The campus’ location provides opportunities for students to be involved with the community and research. Salt Lake City is home to the Huntsman Cancer Institute, University of Utah Health Hospitals and Clinics, the Utah Department of Health, many NGOs and non-profit organizations, and governmental agencies. The University of Utah is a “Research I” university, signifying that the institution is involved in the highest levels of research activity.
