Ivette Lopez Selected for Inclusion Excellence Award

Public Health professor Ivette Lopez, PhD, MPH was recently informed that she has been selected to receive the 2021 Inclusion Excellence Award for Faculty. The award, which is distributed by the Office of the Associate Vice President for Health Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (OHEDI) at the University of Utah, recognizes Lopez’s community outreach and her efforts to advance the cause of inclusion in her sphere of influence.
“This award is a great honor, and the selection committee was very impressed with your service to your community, service to U Health and the University of Utah, personal integrity, leadership skills, academic performance, and exceptional personal and professional promise,” says the letter informing Lopez of the prestigious award. “We know you will continue to be a phenomenal contributor to the health sciences.”
“These things are always a happy surprise for me,” Lopez says. “I am so grateful and humbled by the acknowledgement. Many people work really hard on this type of work, so to be chosen for this amazing award means a great deal.”As part of the honor, Lopez will receive a $500 prize and a crystal memento commemorating the award. She will also join the list of those faculty who have been selected for the award in previous years, including Department Chair Kola Okuyemi, MD, MPH, who received the award in 2018.
