Lyly Tran, MD

  • About Me

Lyly was born and raised all over California. She began in NorCal, San Jose, for about 14 years. She then lived in the Los Angeles area for almost 10 years, where she attended community college. She moved to San Diego where she got her biology degree from UCSD. She met her husband Lance right before graduation. Lyly worked as a CNA, caregiver, and several other odd jobs while working towards medical school. After 7 years in San Diego, Lyly and Lance moved to Michigan and Lyly completed her medical degree at MSU. Her medical interests include immigrant and underserved populations, geriatrics, LGBTQ health, advocacy and mentoring, as well as teaching. Outside of medicine Lyly loves to rock climb, snowboard, have game nights with friends, explore craft beers, and will occasionally get lost in a jigsaw puzzle or crossword. As a new parent, the current obsession is playing with and capturing Julian on camera! Lyly chose U of Utah because she really connected with the faculty and residents, and felt her and her family would be well supported. She also wanted a full spectrum training program with a strong connection to the community, and opportunities to pursue her medical interests. She knows her family would thrive here while she continues her training. She fully expects Baby Julian to be skiing circles around her soon!
