Research Statement

When I published the “Resiliency Model” in 1990 and subsequently the “Metatheory of Resilience and Resiliency” in 2002, I thought I had captured the primary understanding of how people can thrive through adversity. Now, a decade later, and in the wake of the integrative health movement, I realize I had only opened the door to this wonderful area of study. My students and I are doing research on the creation and efficacy of unique skills and techniques to help individuals, families, organizations, and communities to be healthier, happier, and more resilient.
