Vikren Sarkar, PhD, is a tenured associate professor in the Department of Radiation Oncology at the University of Utah and a medical physicist at Huntsman Cancer Hospital (HCH). Dr. Sarkar earned a B.A. from Colorado College and a B.S. degree from Columbia University. He received his Ph.D. in medical physics from the University of Texas Health Sciences Center at San Antonio, Texas. Dr. Sarkar is an active member of the American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM), and the American Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology (ASTRO). Dr. Sarkar’s clinical and research interests include low-dose image-guided radiotherapy (IGRT), radiosurgery (SRS), stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT), proton therapy and adaptive radiotherapy. He is one of the lead medical physicists for proton therapy, SRS/SBRT, and Total Body Irradiation (TBI).
