Forecasting and Surveillance of Infectious Threats and Epidemics
WHO WE ARE
ForeSITE is a collaborative program working alongside public health entities to keep communities safe from infectious disease outbreaks. Funded by the CDC, we bring together experts from the University of Utah, Washington State University, and state and local health departments, along with hospitals and health departments across the Intermountain West. This region includes many rural communities that face unique challenges during health emergencies, and our mission is to provide the tools and support they need to respond quickly and effectively. What We Do
ForeSITE develops adaptable tools that help public health officials and healthcare providers make informed decisions during disease outbreaks. These tools can predict how diseases might spread, alert communities early, plan for different scenarios, and estimate economic impacts. We first tested these tools during the COVID-19 pandemic, and they proved invaluable for hospitals, health departments, and policymakers. Now, we’re building on that success to prepare for future health threats.
