Dr. Amiko Uchida Receives ACG Clinical Research Award and NIH Grant

We are proud to highlight the accomplishments of Amiko Uchida, MD, Assistant Professor in the Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition. Dr. Uchida recently received the American College of Gastroenterology (ACG) Clinical Research Award, which supports innovative patient-oriented research in gastroenterology. In addition, she received an NIH-NIDDK K23 career development award titled Dietary Impacts to Microbial Composition and Function in Eosinophilic Esophagitis, which investigates how diet and the microbiome influence inflammation and disease progression in eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE).
A Utah native, Dr. Uchida obtained her medical degree from the University of Utah, trained in internal medicine at the University of Washington, and completed gastroenterology fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital, where she also pursued advanced training in EoE and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). She is Co-Director of the University of Utah Multidisciplinary Eosinophilic Gastrointestinal Disease Clinic and Director of the Gastrointestinal Biobank. Her clinical and research work is dedicated to understanding immune disorders of the GI tract, with a focus on improving diagnosis, treatment, and quality of life for patients.
