Gabrielle A. Langmann, MD, MS

Gabrielle Langmann, MD, MS, Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of General Internal Medicine, has been selected for the National Board of Medical Examiners (NBME) Strategic Educators Enhancement Fellowship (SEEF), a national program dedicated to advancing leadership in medical education and assessment.

Dr. Langmann was chosen from a large national pool of applicants for the fellowship’s third cohort. The NBME selection committee recognized her outstanding qualifications, commitment to medical education, and strong potential to contribute to collaborative educational research and innovation.

The two-year fellowship (2026–2027) brings together a select group of physician educators from across the country to participate in mentored, multi-institutional scholarly projects focused on improving assessment science and educational outcomes in medicine. Fellows collaborate closely with NBME faculty and researchers while participating in national workshops, professional development activities, and networking opportunities designed to cultivate future leaders in academic medicine.

As part of the fellowship, Dr. Langmann will attend the NBME Invitational Conference for Educators (NICE) in Philadelphia in June 2026 and participate in ongoing virtual and in-person collaborative sessions with peers and mentors throughout the program.

Dr. Langmann is a hospice and palliative medicine specialist with the University of Utah Health and Huntsman Cancer Hospital. She earned her undergraduate degrees and medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh, where she also completed residency training in combined internal medicine and pediatrics, served as chief resident, and later completed fellowship training in hospice and palliative medicine. She also earned a Master of Science degree in medical education through the University of Pittsburgh Institute for Clinical Research Education. Her academic interests include communication skills education, medical education scholarship, and pain and symptom management for individuals affected by serious illness and substance use disorders across the continuum of palliative and hospice care.

Her selection for the SEEF program underscores the growing national recognition of her work in medical education and palliative care scholarship.
