Mary Steinbach Represents the U of U at International Blood Conference in Australia

We’re thrilled to share that Mary Steinbach, representing the University of Utah’s Division of Hematology & Hematologic Malignancies, recently traveled to Australia to speak at the HSANZ/ISBT 2025 Blood Conference—one of the most vibrant global gatherings for hematology and transfusion professionals!

As the international invited speaker for the Nursing Track, Mary delivered three dynamic presentations that highlighted both her expertise and the innovative work happening at Huntsman Cancer Institute:

  1. Remote Monitoring in Hematologic Malignancies
She explored how technology-enabled care is transforming patient management, improving early detection of complications, and supporting patients beyond the clinic walls.

  2. Educational Outreach: The HCI BiCARE Experience
Mary showcased the impact of the BiCARE program, emphasizing its role in elevating hematology nursing education, strengthening clinical competencies, and building collaborative learning communities.

  3. Nursing Assessment and Management of CRS and ICANS for T Cell–Engaging Treatments
In this highly anticipated session, she provided practical guidance on recognizing and managing two of the most critical toxicities associated with advanced cellular therapies, sharing real-world insights to support safer, more confident nursing practice.

Mary’s contributions drew enthusiastic engagement from international colleagues and highlighted the University of Utah’s leadership in clinical innovation, education, and patient-centered care.
