We are proud to congratulate Dr. Gliceida Maria Galarza Fortuna on her acceptance into the prestigious 2026 American Society of Hematology Clinical Research Training Institute (CRTI).

The institute provides intensive mentorship, research training, and career development opportunities for early-career investigators committed to advancing patient-centered hematologic care and innovation. Participation in the program reflects exceptional promise in academic medicine and clinical investigation.

Dr. Galarza Fortuna is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Hematology & Hematologic Malignancies at the University of Utah and specializes in plasma cell disorders, including multiple myeloma, amyloidosis, and Waldenström’s macroglobulinemia. Her research focuses on novel therapeutic strategies for multiple myeloma, particularly immunotherapies and CAR T-cell therapies for relapsed and refractory disease.

Originally from the Dominican Republic, Dr. Galarza Fortuna earned her medical degree from UNIBE School of Medicine in Santo Domingo, completed her Internal Medicine residency at Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach, and later completed her Hematology-Oncology fellowship at the University of Utah, where she served as Chief Fellow. Her work has been presented nationally and internationally and published in several peer-reviewed medical journals.

Her acceptance into the ASH CRTI recognizes her dedication to advancing clinical research and improving outcomes for patients with hematologic malignancies. We look forward to the continued impact of her work and congratulate her on this outstanding achievement.
