Aug 20, 2025
The Department of Internal Medicine is proud to highlight the achievements of Dr. Chadi Hage Chehade, a first-year intern in the Internal Medicine Residency Program, who was recently honored with a Merit Award from Conquer Cancer®, the ASCO Foundation. The award recognizes exceptional research presented by oncology trainees at the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Annual Meeting, one of the largest and most prestigious oncology conferences in the world.
Dr. Hage Chehade delivered an oral presentation at the 2025 ASCO Annual Meeting in Chicago this June. His talk, titled “Utilization and Timing of First Tumor Next-Generation Sequencing Testing in Patients With the Five Most Common Cancers in the USA,” examined critical gaps in genomic testing that could delay access to life-prolonging cancer therapies. The work emphasizes the importance of timely next-generation sequencing (NGS) in optimizing treatment pathways for patients with advanced cancers.
Following his presentation, Dr. Hage Chehade participated in a video interview with Dr. Neeraj Agarwal, professor of Medicine and director of the Genitourinary Oncology Program at the Huntsman Cancer Institute, for UroToday and was featured in an article by Healio, both of which brought further visibility to his research.
Before joining the residency program, Dr. Hage Chehade was a post-doctoral fellow at Huntsman Cancer Institute, where he developed a strong foundation in clinical research and cancer genomics. His contributions continue to reflect the Department's commitment to research excellence and advancing equitable cancer care.
We congratulate Dr. Hage Chehade on this well-deserved recognition and look forward to his continued impact in academic medicine and oncology.
