Janki Patel, MBBS

Dr. Janki Patel earned her medical degree in rural Gujarat, India, and completed her Internal Medicine residency at East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina. Following residency, Dr. Patel worked as a locum hospitalist for two years within three healthcare systems in NC. She then moved to New Orleans, where she practiced as a full-time hospitalist for nearly three years while her husband pursued his master's degree at Tulane University. During her role as a hospitalist, she was drawn to the diagnostic complexity of infectious diseases & the opportunity to solve challenging clinical cases.

Dr. Patel chose the University of Utah for its broad & diverse Infectious Diseases training opportunities (transplant ID, orthopedic infections, travel medicine, HIV care, antimicrobial stewardship, and infection prevention) & Utah’s outstanding access to outdoor activities. Her emerging interests in ID include tropical medicine and diagnostic stewardship.

Outside of medicine, she enjoys camping, hiking, traveling, painting, and spending time with her family.
