Message From Our Program Directors
On behalf of the faculty and staff participating in the University of Utah Health Hematology and Oncology Fellowship Program, thank you for your interest in our program!
The University of Utah Health and the Huntsman Cancer Institute is an NCI designated Cancer Center, located in the heart of the Intermountain West. The medical center sits in the foothills of the spectacular Wasatch Front mountains, overlooking the Salt Lake valley. Salt Lake City offers a wide variety of cultural activities, including the new, nationally recognized Utah Natural History Museum and Ballet West and endless outdoor activities including world class skiing, boarding, bike riding, hiking, camping, and river sports.
Our mission is to train excellent, well-rounded academic and clinic-based hematologists and oncologists. As a fellow, you will play a vital role in a diverse clinical program and work with recognized experts in benign and malignant hematology, and oncology. Our faculty will provide many and varied opportunities for you to participate in laboratory, translational, and clinical research, including phase I clinical trials, investigator-initiated trials, and quality improvement research.
Our fellowship is a three-year combined program in hematology and oncology designed to provide you with excellent clinical training and experience in basic and/or clinic investigation, leading to eligibility to sit for the ABIM Boards in both specialties. We generally have 12 total fellows in training, four per year. The program consists of clinical rotations and research education and training, enhanced with a structured didactic program. There is sufficient flexibility to allow for fellows to structure their experience to achieve their career goals.
We accept applications only through the ERAS, and the application deadline for our program is August 30th. Thank you again for your interest in our program, and if you would like further information, please contact us at 801-585-0120 or email email@example.com.
