Reminder About COVID Childcare Availability and Other Resources

Dear Colleagues,

Supporting the childcare needs/dependent adult needs of our faculty, staff, and trainees is a critical priority for the Department of Internal Medicine. We would like to share with you a new, comprehensive PDF of childcare/dependent care resources, as well as educational and other family support resources, so you have the most relevant information to help you make informed decisions about the care of your loved ones: click here for PDF or head to the Family Resources Pulse page. This PDF is also summarized below:

Childcare/Dependent Care Resources:

  • Bright Horizons - offering in-home child or dependent care for $10/hour co-pay or in-center care for $30/child or $50/family per day co-pay; $100 per day for 'out-of-network' (friends, family, other arrangements)
  • U Center for Child Care and Family Resources - childcare referrals, financial assistance for student parents, and information on lactation spaces, etc.
  • Komae - U of U babysitting co-op application for your phone, tablet, etc.; University families can form groups, or "quaranteams/learning pods," to take turns caring for children
  • UMATCH - U of U program to match staff, faculty, and students to other University community members willing to provide babysitting and nanny services, pet care, tutoring

Educational Support Resources:

  • U Learning Center Tutoring - for children of U employees grades 6-12, up to 10 hours paid centrally and $11/hour thereafter
  • Revolution Prep - offered through Bright Horizons, 10% discount offered on any program
  • U Reading Clinic Assessments - children of U employees grades K-12 can receive a specialized reading assessment with report of actionable steps for parents based on results

Additional Family Resources:

  • OneUCares - U of U program for employees in financial need
  • Utah Education and Telehealth Network - statewide student internet connectivity resources, discounts, and more for those in need or with inadequate internet access
  • Feed U Pantry & Utah Food Bank - access to food for those in need
