Collaborative and Leading-Edge Specialty Training

Fellowships are an important component of the Department of Neurosurgery’s educational mission, providing an outstanding clinical experience and the opportunity to work with and learn from many of the University of Utah’s renowned faculty members. A core element of our fellowship training is one-to-one mentorship, including nuances of diagnosis, academic research development, career goals and national leadership opportunities.

The University of Utah Health Care System

The University of Utah healthcare system is a level 1 trauma center and the Intermountain West's only academic health care system. We combine excellent patient care, the latest medical research, and the teaching of young medical professionals to provide leading-edge medicine in a compassionate and personal setting. We provide care for the state of Utah and five surrounding states, with a referral area encompassing more than 10 percent of the continental United States.

U of U Health relies on more than  1,400 board-certified physicians and 5,000 healthcare professionals across five hospitals:

Life Outside the Hospital

The medical center sits in the foothills of the Wasatch Front Mountains. Salt Lake City offers a wide variety of cultural activities, like the nationally-recognized Utah Natural History Museum, Ballet West, and endless outdoor activities, including world-class skiing, boarding, bike riding, hiking, camping, and river sports.

Balance is an important element of our institution's culture. We offer not only a competitive program, but also a quality of life that's difficult to beat. Salt Lake City and the surrounding areas offer newcomers diverse neighborhoods, great schools, a strong economy, and low cost of living, making Utah a perfect place to call home.
