
Salt Lake City, Utah — The Division of Physician Assistant Education and Sciences (DPAES) at the Spencer Fox Eccles School of Medicine, University of Utah, is pleased to announce the appointment of Christine M. Everett, PhD, MPH, PA-C as the inaugural Vice Chair of Research in the Division of Physician Assistant Education and Sciences, effective September 16, 2025.
Dr. Everett brings more than two decades of experience in clinical care, public health, health professions education, and health services research. She joins the University of Utah from the Medical College of Wisconsin, where she served as Professor, Division Chief of the Division of Physician Associate Studies and Founding Program Director of the Physician Associate program. She also held faculty appointments at Duke University, where she led major interdisciplinary research initiatives and helped establish a longitudinal educational research database to support PA education scholarship.
As Vice Chair of Research, Dr. Everett will lead the Division’s research strategy, oversee research faculty and support staff, and collaborate with the Division Executive Committee to advance a robust research agenda focused on improving the health of all populations. Her work will focus on team-based care, workforce development, PA education, and health system transformation.
Dr. Everett’s research has been funded by the NIH, AHRQ, HRSA, the Veterans Health Administration, and private foundations. She has authored over 50 peer-reviewed publications and contributed to national policy discussions on healthcare workforce and access. Her scholarship has significantly influenced the understanding of PA and NP roles in primary care and team-based models.

Dr. Everett currently serves as Research Editor for the Journal of the American Academy of Physician Associates and has mentored numerous early-career faculty and national research fellows. Her appointment marks a significant milestone in the Division’s commitment to expanding its research enterprise and impact.
