Curriculum & Case Numbers
Residents work closely with board-certified, world-renowned expert subspecialists in all major disciplines of obstetrics and gynecology.
In addition to furthering clinical education, working with subspecialists prepares our residents to pursue fellowship training. The fellowships at the University of Utah do not impact residents’ clinical experience.
Because we have no oncology fellows, our residents are able to serve as primary surgeons on surgery for gynecologic malignancies.
The perinatology fellowship is primarily a research fellowship. These fellows serve as junior faculty and do not perform cases that would otherwise be done by resident staff.
We also have faculty with expertise and referral practices in:
- chronic pelvic pain,
- breast disease,
- infectious disease,
- teenage pregnancy,
- and evidence-based medicine.
