The University of Utah Office of Health Equity & Inclusion and Graduate Medical Education Office are sponsoring a social on November 15th, 2019 from approximately 4:00-5:00 pm to welcome and recruit residents from underrepresented/historically excluded groups to Utah. Please consider scheduling your interview on Nov 15th to attend the social. 

We also offer a Residency Interview Travel Reimbursement which provides travel support up to $500 for 4th year medical students who identify as underrepresented in medicine and have been offered a residency interview at the University of Utah.  Applications are accepted on a rotating basis. Format of the Interview Day

Interviews are granted by invitation only. Our interview day starts at 7am. The day consists of interviews, a tour of the facilities at the university, and lunch with the faculty and residents. There will also be a dinner the night before with the current residents, that partners are welcome to join. 

Your interview should end by 1:30pm. You are welcome to stay and observe in our Labor and Delivery department either before or after your interview activities have been completed.

Getting to the University of Utah Hospital

If you are flying to Salt Lake City, the closest airport is Salt Lake International Airport (SLC). The airport is approximately 20 minutes from University Hospital. Buses, taxis, and rental cars are available at the airport. Information about transportation options is available on the airport website.

If you are driving (from the airport or otherwise), I-80 and I-15 are the two main highways that lead to the hospital.

Hospital Parking

University Hospital provides free parking to visitors. Self parking is available in the parking terrace located northwest of the Hospital main entrance.

Follow the blue and white signs to the free parking. Free valet parking is also available. Valets are located directly in front of the University Hospital main entrance.

Public Transportation

There is also a light rail system, UTA Trax, that runs from multiple points all over the Salt Lake area to the University of Utah Health Sciences Center Campus.

A free campus shuttle service that runs every 15 minutes can take you from the Trax station to the hospital.

The UTA website can provide you with a customized route planner for your trip. Just use the University Hospital as your destination.

Administrative Offices

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology Administrative Offices are located in Room 2A200 in the School of Medicine, which is attached to the University Hospital.

Places to Stay

The University Guest House is a hotel located on the university campus. Mention you are interviewing with the OB/GYN residency for a discounted rate (pending availability of rooms).

The campus shuttle runs between the Guest House and the hospital every 15 minutes. The phone number is 888-416-4075.

There are multiple other lodging options available, many of which offer discounted rates to University Hospital visitors.
