The University of Utah Orthopaedics Department is pleased to announce the appointment of Jeremy Gililland, MD, as the new Chief of the Adult Reconstruction Service.
Dr. Gililland, a University of Utah Orthopaedics residency graduate and OrthoCarolina fellowship–trained surgeon, joined the University of Utah faculty in 2013. He brings extensive expertise in adult reconstruction and a proven record of leadership both within the institution and on the national stage.
During his tenure, Dr. Gililland has served in several key departmental roles, including Chief of Orthopaedic Surgery at the Salt Lake City VA and Director of Research for the Adult Reconstruction Division. Nationally, he is an active and respected contributor in leading professional organizations, including AAHKS, The Hip Society, and The Knee Society.
Dr. Gililland consistently works to enhance how we care for patients as a thoughtful collaborator, an engaged educator, and a dedicated advocate for advancing Orthopaedic care.

The department also extends its sincere appreciation to Chris Peters, MD, who has led the Joint Reconstruction Service since 2008. The strength and reputation of our arthroplasty program today directly reflect Dr. Peters’ dedication.
Dr. Gililland’s leadership will continue to strengthen the University of Utah’s position as a national leader in Orthopaedics.
