Ninad T. Mehta, PhD

Ninad grew up in India and graduated with an MSc In Microbiology from The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda. He obtained an MS in Cell Biology from Georgia State University in Atlanta. Following this, Ninad moved to Canada where he earned a PhD in Virology at the University of Alberta. His work involved studying the interaction between poxvirus and the host innate immune system. Ninad spent the past two years working as a postdoctoral fellow at the School of Public Health at the University of Alberta. His work focused on the development of Point-of-Care diagnostic for the detection of malaria parasite and DENV to be used in resource-limited settings. As part of this project, he was involved in carrying out a field trial for the malaria diagnostics in rural India. Outside of work, Ninad enjoys travelling, reading and playing computer games.
