Medical Laboratory Sciences Programs
Applicants to the post-baccalaureate track are required to have minimum cumulative and math/science GPAs of 2.5. MLS pre-requisite courses may be waived if the completed baccalaureate degree was in biology, chemistry, microbiology or other physical science. It is recommended that applicants schedule an advising appointment with an MLS advisor to review their previous coursework. Pre-requisite course requirements may be waived at the discretion of the Program Director.
Applicants must submit applications to the MLS Admission's Committee between January 1st and March 1st to be considered for fall admission. Applicants will be notified of the committee's decision by May and accepted students will begin the program in fall semester. Late applications may be considered, depending on class size. Post-baccalaureate students complete the same professional program as 2+2 Track students (see MLS Curriculum). Post-baccalaureate students may register with non-matriculation status (no major declared) for the professional ‘MDLB’ courses in fall, spring, and summer semesters (late August to late September the following year). A mandatory orientation session for accepted students is held one week before classes begin in fall semester.
For questions regarding the application process or to schedule an advising appointment, please contact the MLS Advisors at MLSAdvising@path.utah.edu. Please include your full name, UNID (if applicable), and a brief summary of your question. If scheduling an advising appointment, please indicate days/times you would be available during the next two weeks. An MLS Advisor or Administrative Assistant will respond to your questions and will work with you to schedule an appointment when appropriate.
