The Department of Pathology is pleased to welcome Kristina Pierce, MS. She is joining the faculty of the Medical Laboratory Science Division as an Instructor in the Lecturer track. She has been serving as the Coordinator for the teaching lab since 2009. Ms. Pierce will continue in this role while taking on more teaching and administrative responsibilities.
Ms. Pierce received a BS from the University of Utah in Sociology. After raising her family, she received an additional BS and MS from the University of Utah in Medical Laboratory Science. She is certified by the American Society for Clinical Pathology in Medical Laboratory Science.
Ms. Pierce worked as a medical transcriptionist for many years before joining the Department of Pathology as the Teaching Laboratory Coordinator. As she expands her role, her primary goals are to have consistent laboratory techniques between all the specialties, and to make the teaching lab a secondary home for the students in the program.
Outside of the lab, Ms. Pierce enjoys her family, gardening, chickens, bees and dogs among many other things. She has a love of music and is an avid fan of the Utah Opera Company.
