Welcome Dr. Cherilyn Garner

The Department of Pathology is pleased to announce that Cherilyn Garner, PhD, D(ABMM), MLS(ASCP), has joined the Medical Laboratory Sciences Division as an Associate Professor and the Associate Division Chief.

Originally from the Dallas, Texas area, Cherilyn joined the MLS Division in July. She completed her PhD in Comparative Biomedical Sciences with a concentration in Infectious Diseases from Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine.

Cherilyn's specialities lie in medical microbiology with particular expertise in new diagnostic methods, antimicrobial susceptibility testing, mechanisms of antimicrobial resistance, and molecular diagnostics for infectious diseases.

Outside of work, Cherilyn enjoys spending time with her family exploring new places, playing chess and other board games, watching movies/TV, reading, and spending time with her dog.
