On Monday, Sept. 29, 2025, the University of Utah's Division of Medical Laboratory Sciences (MLS) and ARUP Laboratories hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the official launch of the Advanced Practice Clinical Laboratory Training Center (APL).
The result of an insightful and dedicated collaboration, the first-of-its-kind APL was created to bolster educational opportunities for MLS students and address a critical need for highly trained laboratory professionals.
Natalie Dow, Medical Laboratory Sciences 2025 Student of the Year and employee of ARUP, and Megan Hedrick, Medical Laboratory Sciences 2024 Student of the Year, made the symbolic cut to the lab's opening ribbon together.
Guests were able to tour the APL, which is located in ARUP's Building 4 at University of Utah Research Park, and witness the end result after years of dedication and teamwork. Watch ARUP's video to take a look inside the APL.
