Division of

Pediatric Pathology

The Division of Pediatric Pathology in the University of Utah Department of Pathology is based at Primary Children's Hospital, the referral pediatric hospital in the Intermountain West and the base of operations for the University’s Department of Pediatrics. All pediatric medical and surgical subspecialties are represented, and there are more than 17,000 surgical procedures per year. The Division of Pediatric Pathology also collaborates with the Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and examine 1300 placentas and 100 perinatal autopsies per year.

Through our academic affiliations with the Department of Pediatrics and Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine, we engage in clinical and translational research. We provide educational activities for medical students, residents and fellows, and we have an accredited Fellowship on Pediatric Pathology. Faculty in the division continue to make meaningful contributions to knowledge in pediatric pathology at the local, regional, and national levels.
