ADMISSION TO THE CLINICAL PHARMACOLOGY GRADUATE PROGRAM

Applicants should have a strong interest in research and teaching in clinical pharmacology.

Applicants should have a master's or clinical doctoral degree.

Exceptional students with a bachelor's degree and compelling clinical research experience in health sciences will be considered. The following information must be submitted to the graduate school:

  1. Graduate admission application
  2. Official transcripts of undergraduate and graduate coursework
  3. For international students, an International English Language Test (IELTS: https://www.ielts.org/en-us) score.
  4. A current Curriculum Vitae or Resume
  5. Report of the Graduate Record Exam taken within the past five years
  6. A written statement (less than 1000 words) of research experience and interest, and long-term career goals
  7. 3-5 letters of recommendation from individuals with knowledge of the applicant's potential for success in a doctoral program

Admission of International Students

International Students who wish to apply to join the Pathology Graduate program will have to meet the following minimum requirements:

  • Undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or more.
  • Proof of English language competency in line with the University of Utah policy. This should be 6.5 or higher on the International English Language Test (IELTS)

Additional information and details 

If accepted, the University of Utah Admissions Office will provide assistance in applying for an F-1 student visa, required for study in the USA. This may take anywhere from 3 to 6 months.

Admission of potential students with an MD or PharmD degree

Due to the clinical research orientation of the Clinical Pharmacology Graduate Program, physicians or PharmDs who are interested in pursuing their careers in clinical research may consider submitting an initial application directly to the Clinical Pharmacology Division. Your CV and personal statement indicating research interests should be sent to Dr. Elena Enioutina.

Admission to the doctoral Program in Clinical Pharmacology will require:

  1. Acceptance to graduate school at the University of Utah
  2. A minimum grade point average of 3.0 in all college work and a record of the Graduate Record Exam
  3. Availability of faculty mentor resources that match the student's research interests

Admission Procedures for Prospective Students

The deadline for submission is April 1.

It takes anywhere from 2 months to 6 months to complete the paperwork associated with admission. While admission is preferred for a Fall start, Summer admissions may be considered by the Executive Committee.
