Specialized Training

The Department of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R) at University of Utah Health offers a one-year ACGME-accredited fellowship in Spinal Cord Injury Medicine. 

The SCI Medicine Fellowship is a 12-month program that offers specialized training in the prevention, diagnosis, and management of traumatic and non-traumatic spinal cord injuries and related conditions. The SCI Medicine fellow will rotate through a variety of practice settings including the University of Utah Health (acute care hospital and rehabilitation center), Primary Children’s Hospital, and the Veterans Affairs Healthcare System Salt Lake City.

+ Its goal is to offer specialized training in the prevention, diagnosis, and management of both traumatic and non-traumatic spinal cord injuries and associated conditions.

University of Utah Health includes the University of Utah Hospital, which is the oldest Level 1 Trauma Center in the state. There are inpatient acute care beds and outpatient clinics within the hospital. Acute inpatient rehabilitation at the Spinal Cord Injury Program is in the University of Utah Health's Rehabilitation Center; it is the only CARF-accredited program in the state of Utah.  

Rehabilitation Hospital

A state-of-the-art freestanding Rehabilitation Hospital; located on the campus in near proximity to the main hospital complex.  The Craig H. Neilsen Rehabilitation Hospital is a 150,000 square foot advanced facility, which will be a restorative and healing environment designed to speed recovery and improve quality of life for patients after they return home.
