Rehabilitation Psychology

The Division of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation takes a whole person approach to recovering from and living with an illness or injury. Rehabilitation Psychology provides psychological support for persons attempting to cope with disabling conditions such as spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, amputation, stroke, and multiple sclerosis. Our clinic also has a long history of serving persons as they recover from addiction and other related substance use disorders. Our service specializes in assisting persons who are simultaneously dealing with a complex combination of physical illness, emotional difficulties, cognitive impairments, and substance abuse problems.

The University of Utah Rehabilitation Psychology Clinic works with various departments within the University of Utah. We also train psychology graduate students from the University of Utah Department of Psychiatry, the University of Utah Department of Educational Psychology, and APA internship rotation through the George E. Wahlen Department of Veterans Affairs, Post-Doctoral Fellowship.
