EARLY DECISION PROGRAM (EDP) & APPLICATION TIMELINE

The Early Decision Program is an expedited application process recommended to applicants who are exclusively committed to attending the University of Utah School of Medicine.

Applicants are strongly encouraged to review the official AMCAS Early Decision Guidelines before applying to the Early Decision Program.

The Admissions Office is unable to provide individual status updates on an application once submitted, but applicants are able to track their application status in their applicant portal.

JUNE
UUSOM begins receiving EDP applications from AMCAS

EDP applicants must take the MCAT no later than June of the year of application to be considered for admission.
JULY
 
UUSOM preliminary EDP application reviews begin
Reviews continue to occur throughout the EDP application cycle
 

EDP Secondary Application invites begin
Invites continue to occur throughout the EDP application cycle
 

EDP Secondary Application reviews begin
Reviews continue to occur throughout the EDP application cycle
 

Invites for EDP interviews begin

AUGUST

 

 

EDP AMCAS application must be submitted to UUSOM no later than 11:59 pm EST on August 1
 

Applicant EDP interviews begin
Interviews continue to occur throughout the EDP application cycle 

SEPTEMBER

Final EDP admissions decisions are made
All EDP applicants will be notified no later than 11:59 pm EST on October 1  

 
SEPTEMBER - MARCH

Applicants not accepted under the EDP are now able to apply to other medical schools, and will automatically be placed in the regular UUSOM MD applicant pool. 

Applicants moved to the MD pool will not be required to re-interview or re-submit their application.
