Rural Medicine Scholars program

Utah also ranks last in the nation for primary care physicians per person, along with fewer students staying in-state for medical school and fewer residents entering primary care than in most other states. In rural communities, the impact is deep. Clinics are miles apart and providers are few.

The Rural Medicine Scholars program is part of a broader effort to change that. We prepare physicians to train locally, build lasting relationships, and care for the communities they serve.

Our work is grounded in the mission of the Spencer Fox Eccles School of Medicine: to serve all people and communities of Utah through compassionate, patient-centered care, with a commitment to rural and underserved communities, health for all people, and a culture of respect and connection.

Because improving health for all Utahns. It starts with community and connection.
