Psychiatry Fellowship

Training Sites

Our Addiction Medicine program is primarily based at the University Neuropsychiatric Institute, the University of Utah Main Hospital, University of Utah Community Clinics, and a local residential treatment center (Recovery Ways).

University Neuropsychiatric Institute (UNI)

The University Neuropsychiatric Institute (UNI) is a freestanding psychiatric hospital that draws patients from the entire Mountain West region. At UNI residents will have the opportunity to work with a wide range of patients, from those with straightforward addition to those with more complicated addiction. In contrast to the other rotation sites, residents may be more exposed at UNI to managed care constraints and expectations, which require different skills and which may influence the resident's relationship with his/her patients.

Rotations at the University Neuropsychiatric Institute include:

  • Inpatient addiction medicine rotation
  • Outpatient addiction medicine rotation
  • Adolescent consultation service rotation

University of Utah Main Hospital

The University of Utah Main Hospital serves people from across the state and throughout the Mountain West. University Hospitals and Clinics log more than 850,000 inpatient and outpatient visits annually, and every day more than 10,000 people pass through the front doors of the University Hospital.

Rotations at the University of Utah Medical Center include:

  • Consultation-liaison rotation

  • Assessment and referral services outpatient rotation
