Community and Rural Mental Health Concentration

Thank you for your interest in our Community Mental Health (CMH) Concentration! This is the first year that this is considered a full concentration. The CMH Concentration will allow residents the opportunity to rotate through elective sites that focus on serving patients who are unfunded, underfunded, underserved and/or have severe and persistent mental illness. We currently have residents piloting rotation sites for the track and are working on bringing several other locations on board. We also have a monthly lecture series track residents are encouraged to help plan.

Goals of the Concentration:

  • Provide diverse educational experiences through lectures and networking with individuals who currently work in the public sector
  • Provide diverse clinical experiences within the community and SPMI population
  • Potential research/scholarly project ideas
  • Prepare the resident to be able to move on to a public psychiatry fellowship or work in public psychiatry upon graduation
