Mark J. Edlund, MD, PhD  *
Senior Research Scientist, RTI International

Mark Edlund is a senior research scientist with more than 15 years’ experience in mental health and addictions health services research. He is also a practicing psychiatrist, seeing mainly patients with comorbid mental disorders, substance use disorders, and chronic pain. He was a fellow in the National Institutes of Health (NIH)-funded Medical Scientist Training Program at the University of Michigan, where he received his MD and a PhD in Health Services Organization and Policy. He also completed a psychiatry residency and a health services research fellowship at the University of California, Los Angeles Neuropsychiatric Institute. Read More about Dr. Edlund here

Kevin T. McCauley, MD *
Co-founder, Institute for Addiction Study

Dr. Kevin McCauley is a non-practicing physician who has worked in the field of addiction treatment for nearly two decades. Dr. McCauley became interested in the problem of addiction after witnessing the success of the Navy’s program for treating pilots with alcohol problems. He has worked in a non-clinical capacity at several treatment centers giving lectures on the neuroscience of addiction and recovery management concepts. He currently serves as Director of Program Services at New Roads Behavioral Health in Sandy and Provo, Utah. He has given over two thousand lectures on addiction and recovery throughout the United States, Canada, the Caribbean, Europe and Australia. His main interest is the debate over whether or not addiction can rightfully be considered a “disease.” Kevin also continues to assist pilots with substance use disorders through his collaboration with the Air Line Pilots Association’s HIMS Program. Read More about Dr. McCauley here
