The University of Utah Department of Psychiatry, conference planners, and organizers cordially invite you to submit an abstract for the 8th Annual Addictions Update Conference, which will be held on June 10-11, 2024 in Salt Lake City.
We are committed to featuring top speakers and professionals to present current topics and issues. Abstracts are requested for sessions 60 or 75 minutes in length. They may be conducted by one or more presenters. All programs should emphasize knowledge and improved clinical and practice skills.
Application Process
Download and fill out the Presentation Abstract application with details about your proposal.
Email completed application by November 20, 2023 with “Addictions Update Proposal” in the subject line.
Submissions will be reviewed by the Program Planning Committee. Decisions will be communicated in January.
About the Conference
This educational activity is designed to increase knowledge and competencies around addiction issues facing today’s diverse society in order to develop and implement effective prevention, intervention and treatment programs and strategies through science, policy and practice. Ultimately, this will create improvement in ‘systems’ and clinical practices as well as client care in all settings.
About the Attendees
Attendees are professionals from various disciplines in both public and private settings who work with or influence practices for individuals and families with addiction issues and possibly co-occurring mental health disorders. The forum is designed to join medical, addiction and behavioral health professionals for various types of presentations offered in a hybrid format offering in-person and virtual format.
Conference Goals
- Increase awareness and share current knowledge of critical substance use issues throughout the lifespan and in a diversity of cultures to identify and define their relevance to peers, family members, business, and community and government influences;
- Develop strategies to effectively promote the healthy growth and development of individuals in all developmental stages and various cultural / ethnic backgrounds who are dealing with issues of substance use, misuse, and abuse;
- Provide effective working tools for professionals to properly intervene in these issues;
- Familiarize participants with current policies, resources and resource needs in an environment which facilitates interdisciplinary, collaborative networking; and, to
- Provide tools for professionals in policy, research, and patient care to mobilize in order to develop and implement prevention and intervention programs in business, community and government.
