New Public Health Learning Abroad Coordinator Kyra Solis has been hard at work at her position for several months now, continuing the growth and development of learning abroad programs offered through DFPM. Her ability to grow her position recently increased, as she applied and received travel funds to attend a learning abroad workshop happening soon in Laramie, Wyoming.
The workshop is offered through Increase & Diversify Education Abroad for U.S. Students (IDEAS) and will focus on making learning abroad opportunities more accessible and equitable to students. This knowledge will be a big advantage in Solis's management of DFPM learning abroad opportunities in Ghana, India, Peru, and South Korea.
The conference also represents an opportunity for Solis to expand her skills and professional knowledge. "I'm very excited to be representing the U and DFPM/DPH at my first in-person conference, and hope that I can draw on the networks and knowledge of the other participants to continue bolstering our already great learning abroads," she says.
