The Department of Radiology and Imaging Sciences is pleased to welcome Blake Bohe, MBA, MHA as our new Administrative Director. This marks an expanded role in the department for her, after spending the previous two years as the Director of Interventional Radiology where she had the opportunity to blend the concerns of the faculty with the demands of the hospitals and clinics operating environment. Bohe spent three years prior to her work in Interventional Radiology as the Outpatient Services Manager in Neurosurgery.
“I’m thrilled to be stepping into a larger administrative role with the department,” Bohe says. “My experience to this point with University of Utah Health has been primarily in clinical operations, so I look forward to gaining more exposure to the academic and research missions of the department,” she adds.
The Administrative Director position is an important one for the department, overseeing not only the administrative budget and staff, but working closely with all aspects of our operations, from section chiefs and the residency program to the purchase of major imaging equipment and the work of our research labs. Notably, Bohe will be taking a lead role in the integrated management structure for radiology that unites the School of Medicine with the Hospitals and Clinics, a team known as IMAGER.
The Anne G. Osborn Chair of Radiology and Imaging Sciences, Satoshi Minoshima, MD, PhD, is confident that Bohe will rise to the challenge. “Blake was chosen from 80+ applications and through the series of virtual and in-person interviews,” he relates. “I sincerely appreciate her enthusiasm to work with us and to elevate the value of radiology and imaging sciences and improve human health.”
The Administrative Director position became available when Kirk Mosher, MBA announced his retirement, after two years in this position and 25 in University of Utah Health. He oversaw several major improvements to space and capital equipment as well as a restructuring of administrative staffing.
Yet the department continues to grow, hiring faculty in nearly every section this year as well as new Vice Chairs for Clinical Operations, Education, and Research. Minoshima and other department leaders have much planned for the coming years. “I look forward to moving our department into the future alongside Blake,” he says, “and I am optimistic that she is a good match for the innovation and leadership we need in an Administrative Director.”
For her part, Bohe is just as enthusiastic: “I feel honored to be able work side-by-side with Dr. Minoshima and the incredible team of faculty, researchers, and staff,” she says.
