The University of Utah’s Rocky Mountain Center for Occupational and Environmental Health (RMCOEH) proposes a new BS program in occupational safety and health (OSH). Working with the School of Medicine and Department of Mechanical Engineering, the degree will be interdisciplinary in nature and provide students with basic science and behavioral science concepts, as well as comprehension of industrial hygiene and occupational safety concepts.
Students will be encouraged to participate in cooperative internship opportunities with business and industry. Graduates of the program will find permanent employment opportunities within industrial firms; insurance companies; construction companies; professional associations; local, state, and federal government; labor organizations; and medical care facilities. The University of Utah’s proximity to many of the nation's leading corporations provides a myriad of opportunities for students and graduates to find rewarding employment in this field.
