Research Description:  Vertebrate muscle has the remarkable capacity to regenerate after injury due to the coordinated interaction of multiple cell types. I study the molecular and cellular interactions between muscle stem cells, fibroblasts, and macrophages during regeneration. Understanding how normal muscle regeneration occurs can give us insight into diseases in which regeneration is impaired, such as muscular dystrophy.
