Welcome Our New Provider, Dr. Brian Mitzman

Brian Mitzman, MD, joins the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery as an Assistant Professor (Clinical Track) of
Surgery.
Dr. Mitzman earned his medical degree from University of Buffalo School of Medicine, Buffalo, New York. He completed a General Surgery Residency at Lenox Hill Hospital, New York, NY and Cardiothoracic Surgery Fellowship at the University of Chicago. For the past two years he has been in active clinical practice at NYUWinthrop Hospital, Long Island, NY where he also had an academic appointment as a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery at NYU Langone Health.
Dr. Mitzman’s clinical interests include:- Benign and malignant disease of the lungs, esophagus, chest wall and mediastinum
- A specific focus on minimally invasive and robotic surgical interventions for general thoracic surgical disease
- Thoracic Surgical Outcomes and Quality of Care Research using population-based data, cost and
- utility analyses
- Standardization of Robotic Thoracic Surgical Training using a Simulation-based Curriculum
- Video-based Surgical Coaching
