Rotation Dates & Other Information
You will self schedule twelve 4-hour scanning shifts with specific attendings (schedule available the month prior to the rotation).
- Mondays from noon-4pm: supervised scanning shifts
- Wednesdays from 1:30pm - 3:30pm: Ultrasound QA
Introduction to Bedside Ultrasound ibook by Dawson and Mallin is provided by the course. A reading schedule will be determined by the student.
Scrubs or business casual clothing are appropriate attire during the rotation. Student identification must be clearly displayed at all times in the emergency department. Jeans, sweats, T-shirts, shorts, and sandals should not be worn while working in the ED.
The Office of Student Affairs in the Dean's Office will be accepting applications via VSAS only. All portions of the application must be complete for your application to be processed (including malpractice insurance).

Notification of Acceptance
Once your complete application has been received by Student Affairs, it is sent to the division of emergency medicine for approval. Once you have been approved for the rotation, Student Affairs will send you an official letter of acceptance. Emergency Medicine will contact you regarding the specifics of your rotation.
Housing needs to be arranged by the student.
On-campus parking is to be arranged by the student. Parking Passes can be purchased at the Parking Services Office. There is also an excellent public transportation system (UTA) featuring both bus and light rail with stops in front of the emergency department.
