Salary

The stipend schedule for 2024-2025 is as follows:
Salaries increase yearly.

Training Level Stipend

  1. $71,064

  2. $73,686

  3. $76,459

Vacation

There are four weeks of paid vacation annually.

Special Educational Leave

PGY2 and PGY3 emergency medicine residents can be granted time off to attend national educational conferences and obtain a stipend if presenting scientific research.

Insurance

Medical and dental insurance: There is a choice of plans for health coverage for residents and their families, with premium costs shared by the resident and University Hospital. Group dental insurance is available at a nominal monthly charge.

Retirement

Beginning July 1, 2024, GME trainees will automatically be enrollment in a 401(a) defined contribution retirement plan with immediate vesting funded by the University and Affiliated Hospitals.

Life insurance

Group life insurance in the amount of $25,000 at no charge. Additional insurance up to maximum of $350,000 may be purchased.

Disability insurance

House officer may select policy with own-occupation clause in the amount of approximately $2,380 per month with built-in cost of living rider. Basic policy is paid for by the hospital. Additional options may be purchased by the house officer.

Malpractice insurance

Provided by the hospital for professional activities that are an approved part of the training program.

Meals

Meals are provided for residents required to spend the night in any affiliated hospital as part of his/her training program.

Childcare

An on campus childcare facility is available, space permitting.
