Why Utah?

In seeking a residency position, program culture was important to me. I feel that the residents and attendings are genuinely happy here. The U of Utah offers broad training in multiple disciplines within Plastic Surgery, serves a large catchment area, and residents feel confident in both pursuing fellowships and entering practice after completion of training. As an added bonus, Utah is a beautiful place to be!

Dr. Ormiston loves cooking and experimenting in the kitchen, and she enjoys watercoloring. She also enjoys spending time outdoors hiking and running, and she loves to ski!

I'm still excited to learn more about all aspects of plastic surgery, but I have a particular interest in hand and microsurgical reconstruction. 

Interests & Hobbies

Utah makes it incredibly easy to continue to participating in my favorite outdoor activities - skiing, hiking, and running! I also like to play music, in particular the flute. 

Why Utah?

I was drawn to Utah for lots of reasons, but my interview really sold me on the people here, both residents and faculty alike. I love being a part of this community. Our training program is well-rounded with excellent operative experience and mentorship.

Why Utah?

I came to Utah for a research year with the Plastic Surgery department to advance my experiences in plastics and develop connections with the outstanding faculty here. It was quickly apparent that this is a special program in a top notch hospital system, and fortunately, they liked me enough to keep me. I didn't know much about the beautiful landscape of Utah either, so that has been a welcome surprise.

James Willcockson

Dr. Willcockson is an integrated plastic surgery resident at the University of Utah. His interests within plastic surgery include: microsurgery, reconstructive surgery, hand surgery, and cosmetic surgery.

Interests & Hobbies

He tries to spend as much of his free time outdoors as possible. His favorite activities are backpacking, fishing, mountain and road biking, kayaking, and skiing. When he is not outside, he prefers to be reading or working on his saltwater fish tank.
